Created by Michael Kiesling, Azul: Stained Glass of Sintra challenges players to carefully select glass panes to complete their windows while being careful not to damage or waste supplies in the process. The window panels are double-sided, providing players with a dynamic player board that affords nearly infinite variability! Players can expect to discover new unique art and components in Azul: Stained Glass of Sintra, including translucent window pane pieces, a tower to hold discarded glass panes, and double-sided player boards and window pane panels, in addition to many other beautiful components!

Much like the game Azul, players take turns drafting coloured tiles from suppliers to their player board. Player boards consist of reversible window panes (with two separate sides) that must both be completed to get removed from the board. You have a worker at the bottom of one your columns, which moves from left to right based on how you place your tiles. You can only place tiles onto the column where your worker is or one column to the right of your worker. Having said that, the actions you can take each round (much like Azul) include: taking tiles from a factory supply, taking tiles from the centre of the board, OR resetting your worker to the far left column.

Later in the round, players score points based on how they've placed their tiles to decorate the palace. Extra points are scored for specific patterns and completing sets; wasted supplies harm the player's score. Unlike Azul, the point tracker has a fixed number of rounds, rather than an endgame trigger. The player with the most points at the end of the game wins.
